The Batten Disease Support & Research Association has been a part of some very exciting work over the last four years. Stem cell transplants have proved safe for our children with Infantile and Late Infantile Batten Disease and there could be a phase 2 clinical trial underway soon. A group at the University of Rochester has submitted a clinical trial program to the FDA for studying a drug that has stopped the decline of motor skills in mice with Juvenile Batten Disease. Along with the sponsored research, BDSRA also provides support to families affected by Batten Disease. You can view our 2009 annual report at bdsra.org for details about what we do.
