Samaritan's House Night Shelter Volunteers

Samaritan's House Night Shelter Volunteers Are Needed

Crossroads has committed to staffing the Night Shelter one week each quarter by providing a hot dinner in the evening for the guests and breakfast cereal and milk the next morning. Our week to serve this quarter is Jan 18-24. We now have volunteers to prepare and serve the dinners each night. We do need a man and a woman each night to check in the guests from 7:00 - 10:00 pm on a few of the nights. Please email Nancy Friend at nancy@xroadschurch.us or call Nancy at 704-707-1150 if you would like to help.

We are grateful to Robert Ellis for serving as Shelter Coordinator in 2008. The Missions Leadership Team is looking for someone to serve as Coordinator for 2009. Please email Tami Gilman (new Missions Chair) at
tgilman@bellsouth.net or Nancy Friend if you would like more information about this position. Please cover this group of volunteers in prayer as they represent Christ to people in need at the Night Shelter.

The Arc of Cabarrus County

The Arc of Cabarrus County and The Arc of NC are sponsoring a Forum on Education to Children Who Have Developmental Disabilities on Thursday, January 29th at 6:30 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church on Bradley Street in Concord. The forum will address the questions: Why aren’t students with disabilities leaving schools ready for adult life, and what will it take to improve outcomes? Parents, teachers, self-advocates, school administrators, vocational providers and anyone who has an informed opinion is invited to join us and express their views at this forum. The purpose of the evening is to help in the development of The Arc of NC’s 2009 advocacy/legislative agenda. For more details or to register your attendance, please contact Kara McAbee at 704-788-1616 or email karamcabee@windstream.net.
