Volunteer Help for The Salvation Army

Would you like to spend some time at the Salvation Army kettle to help them raise funds for families in need? Crossroads has been asked to provide volunteers for a day at the Concord Mills Mall near the Salvation Army Angel Tree sometime between Nov 20 and Dec 24. It is inside the mall and you do not actually ring the bell – you just stand at the kettle. Please email Nancy Friend at nancy@xroadschurch.us or call 704-707-1150 with the time of day that works best for you. We will choose the day and set the schedule up in 1 or 2 hour shifts based on the interest. Donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need, in keeping with the spirit of the season. Donations also provide financial assistance for basic necessities for seniors and the homeless.

Community Outreach Opportunity

Kerr Street United Methodist Church will hold their first annual Community Thanksgiving Day meal free of charge to anyone who needs a meal. They expect to serve over 700 meals. Meals on Wheels does not run on Thanksgiving Day and many families are in need of food. You are invited to participate in this outreach by preparing and serving meals or by donating food – especially desserts. Drivers are needed to deliver the meals to shut-ins and to others who cannot get to the church. Most of the work will be completed by noon on Thanksgiving Day, so volunteers will still have time to have a Thanksgiving meal with their families. This is a rewarding ministry that the whole family can participate in. If you would like to participate in some way, please contact Nancy Friend at nancy@xroadschurch.us or 704-707-1150 and sign up to help.

A number of folks have been holding off, but it's time to make a decision about getting your finances in order so you are no longer have to be slave to a creditor or a job. Registration will close by Tuesday night, so please pass this information on and get registered so we can print out the workbooks and CD's. Also, be aware that a percentage of your registration will go to the YMCA to assist them with their programs, so you're supporting a good cause and helping yourself at the same time!

Seventy percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck with creditors at their heels and nothing but dreams in their savings accounts. Whats even more sobering, however, is that a good portion of the remaining 30 percent is on its way to a bleak future and doesnt even know it.
